Those who know us know that we love to be out in our RV camping. I have said it many times that I will be living out of the RV at some point when the kids get older. It is my happy place. I feel calm when I am sitting in the woods by a campfire. Love the smells and sounds. My daughters and I got to go to Boy Scout camp with my husband and son. We stayed in the family camp area. We explored alot and also relaxed alot. It was wonderful! Can't wait for our next adventure.
I love when I have the opportunity to photograph a large family and watch as they interact with one another. This family was so great. It was so hot out (possibly close to 90) and it was a morning shoot. They went along for the ride and I hope they enjoy their pictures from years to come...
This weekend all 3 of my kids were in a tournament at the same location. It is nice when we can be in the same place for the whole weekend and see everyone play. It makes for a wee bit crazy weekend of me running from field to field to snap pictures and not miss any moments with my kids. It is the one that that is so very important to me. It is times like today that I am glad I am able to be there. My son has played in 3 shootouts at tournaments. He has never lost a shootout until today. It was heartbreaking that it came down to this. The game was 0-0 when it went to Shootout. No one understands what he goes through in these situations. He walked away in tears. And cried the whole way home. He leaves it all on the field EVERYTIME. It was heartbreaking for me as I approached him to have him just cry into my shoulder. Some will never get what it is like to be a keeper and have all of the pressure on them. If someone misses a goal it is no big deal. If Jack lets one in it is a totally different story. He is exhausted since last weekends tournament to 2 games this week to this weekend of tournament. He is definitely ready for a much needed break. I love this kid and the fact that he puts his heart into it 110%. I just wish that he did not feel like it is all on him....
"For a goalkeeper, there is no hiding place..." ~Brad Friedel
I think this often as I watch my son play soccer and since he was about 6 years old he had a desire to be a keeper. He was always drawn to that position for whatever reason. And today as he begins his journey into High School soccer (I can't even believe he is already in high school!) with his first contact day with the coaches I am excited, anxious and so proud of him. The thing is with a keeper there are not a lot of training opportunities. Whereas with every other position every practice revolves around practicing the foot skills. Jack's training comes from his games, scrimmages and attending Camp Shutout every summer. It is a camp that is only for goalkeepers. They spend almost a week in a hotel and on soccer fields working their keeper skills. It is a rigorous schedule that starts at 7am and goes late into the night. Now it is not all tough work they have fun times and even are able to get massages. What you don't realize is keepers bodies take a real beating. Whether it be by getting kicked as someone tries to snag the ball or diving for the balls. But this is the life our son has chosen and we support him 100% and then some. We are excited to see where this adventure leads into high school.
This year has been quite an adventure for our youngest. She started playing soccer with a new soccer club where she didn't really know anyone on the team. But at this point she looks at these girls as her friends, as her soccer family and she looks up to her soccer coaches who spend countless hours teaching them. We have been blessed to spend so much time with them on the soccer fields and off of the fields. We look forward to what the future may bring....
"Somewhere behind the athlete you've become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back... play for her.” ~Mia Hamm
It has been a long time since my family welcomed a new baby. We are so excited for my cousin Adrina and Ryan and there sweet baby girl that is coming in July.
At Adrina's shower yesterday it was so sweet to see Adrina showing everyone where the baby is at and letting everyone rub her belly. She is a going to be a wonderful mom and Ryan an amazing dad! I look forward to watching them welcome this sweet baby in.
All of the girl cousins were especially excited for another girl to join our family. She is going to be so loved by everyone and I am sure she can feel it from all the rubs she got yesterday! If not she will soon learn how much our family loves each other....
There are 8 days left of school. Yes 8 days. And my youngest who is 11 has had quite the year. She has been counting down the days until school ends for over a month now. She has struggled with anxiety due to bullying situations at school. It has broken our hearts to watch this have such a profound effect on her. The only joy she feels is when she is with her soccer team or at home or with friends. So she is ready to walk away from this school. Sad when it comes to that. We will see what the next 3 months bring, but will focus on the positive of 3 months off and away from the negativity....
I feel I have been very MIA on my site. Life has gotten the best of me and so I have not kept up with my 365. But I am kicking it back in gear! Why not during my busiest time of the year? HA!
And so I begin it with my daughters piano recital last night. My daughter has a gift with music. This here is the last time she will have a piano recital because she has decided she wants to just play to play and not for lessons. She can sit down and learn a song all on her own. She can read music beautifully. I know she will continue to play because it is in her. Last night she played a beautiful song Fireflies. It is one of my favorites she has played.
“One of my biggest thrills for me still is sitting down with a guitar or a piano and just out of nowhere trying to make a song happen.” – Paul McCartney
I love leaving up a set of twinkling lights after Christmas is over. It warms the living room and gives it a cozy feel around the piano. I think when it comes to holiday lights you are usually either a white light or color light kind of person. I am white light all the way.
We recently got hit with some snow, so we finally have snow covered backyards. This bird house is a staple in our yard. Each year we have many birds that come to live. This year my husband he is going to be modifying the house to make it better for the birds. Oh his big ideas....
