We are on day 2 of being stuck inside because of the horribly cold temps we have sweeping through the Midwest. So, my girls came bounding down this morning wanting to paint. So, paint they did while I worked my regular job. I came in to check on them and found my youngest painting this picture of the sun. It seems she too is missing the sun... We are hoping the gloomy weather leaves us soon and we can get back to being outside and maybe warm up a bit. :) We are in a deep freeze here in WI. The temps were -19 with a windchill bringing us to -41 today. School was cancelled needless to say because it is just too dangerous for the kids to be outside for any period of time. So, we tried to make it a fun day, but doing a little science experiment to see what happens to bubbles in these horribly cold temps outside. My husband blew the bubbles while I snapped the pictures. The bubbles ended up freezing in the air and then exploding. It was so neat to see! Definitely something you have to try with your kids!! My daughter had a basketball tournament today. Normally my daughter is sporting hard shoes or her ghillies for Irish Dance, but this time of year she sports her basketball shoes. She was a little mortified with me when I said after her tournament that I wanted to take a picture of her shoes against the floor. I was down on my hands and knees while the next team was warming up. LOL Ahh the things we do to grab that picture we want. But I love it! This snowflake has a special place in my heart. I have a box of snowflakes that are all different that were handmade by my grandma Marion who has since passed away. They are my favorite Christmas decorations of all time. They remind me of my childhood and watching my grandma make these beautiful unique works of art. I remember how excited I was when I received my set after snowflakes after marrying my husband, Chad. It was very special to me that I finally got my own set. They are something that I have to remember my grandma by. They bring back sweet memories of her and all that she did for us. |
