My challenge today was to capture a sunrise. So I live in Wisconsin. It is January. It is cold. Not just cold, but this morning when I set out determined to capture my sunrise it was -19. But, because I want to stay true to my challenge I bundled up and went forth to 1000 Island Nature Center where I thought I could capture the best scenery for the sunrise. I will say that I thought I was going to miss it. At about 6:50 I jumped out of bed and threw my clothes on took off in a mad dash to the nature center. Yes I was the only crazy person out there this morning. Aside from the beautiful eagles flying over head. But, I am glad I did. It is a beautiful world we live in and I am grateful that I was able to start my day with this view. And I hope these pictures can brighten your morning and day...

Oh my guilty pleasure... Yes at times I am a Starbucks junkie. Depending on what is going on in life I may turn to Starbucks. Sure there are many other coffee shops that I love around our area. But there are times where I just want Starbucks. I cannot lie there is something about their coffee that just gets me through. Over winter break yeah it is was necessary maybe more than a couple times.... And today was one of those days. Long day with work. Long day with the kids. Just long day. Felt a migraine starting so when I took my daughter who is cat sitting to take care of the cats we stopped for a pick me up. I discovered over the winter break the mobile app. Yeah I am not sure how I have gotten through all this years never knowing about it. But being able to order my drink ahead and just walk in grab from the counter and walk out is one of the most satisfying things EVER! Happy coffee drinking!
My girls this past year created their own fairy gardens in our yard. They had so much fun with putting all of their special little houses and fairies and all the things that go along with it in our gardens. It is such a sweet little thing for them to do and the houses light up at night thanks to the solar panel on them. I highly recommend if you have a little one to try having a fairy garden with them. It is something to get them outside and exploring. It gets those creative juices flowing and has them thinking about what the fairies could be doing. So today's 365 focus was "Entry" and I took it to take a picture of one of the Fairy house doors. My interpretation of the project. :)
Do you make New Years resolution? Are the goals you set just to big? I know in the past I have done that many times where I think I am going to get all of this stuff done this year. But this year my resolutions is to read more! I used the website Goodreads for tracking what I read. It is amazing. I am even this year doing an online book club through where we are reading old Classics that I have not read since high school. Which is oh I don't know is 30 years ago... I am excited to get back to those old classics while I still read these great current books. My brother every christmas gives me great books. This year he gave me "The Power" and "The Crow Girl". They are high on my list to get completed early on. I have a book he gave me last year that I have yet to start. So, that one is high on the list and in the picture as well called "The Wife Drought". My goal is read over 30 books this year. As a working mom, who is also running a business it can be hard to find the time. That is why many times I turn to audiobooks. But I miss holding a book and turning the pages. So, I look forward to getting back to that this year. What are you favorite books? Share them because I love adding new books to my goodreads list. :) Several years ago we started a tradition with our kids to make New Year's eve about family. For Christmas we get the kids new board games and we save them then for New Year's eve as we spend the night playing games instead of watching TV or being on computers. Over dinner we talk about our resolutions or "revolutions" as my 10 year old calls it for the new year. Oh that girl she cracks us up. They all had great ones for 2018. After dinner we move on to the game night. Last night we played a couple spy games and then ended with Life which took us to midnight. It is interesting to watch the kids play this game and see which "path" they decide to take at their age. I know for our 13 year old who had multiple offers to go to parties for New Years Eve that it may have been hard for him to stay in with his family. But for us it is a time to be with family and while he is still young we will are going to enjoy that time. On a night like last night we don't want our kids out on the roads and it is a big reason we stay in for the night. There are too many people who just don't make good choices and decide to drink and drive and so we don't want to have to worry about our kids. In the end he and all of us had a great time. We look forward to 2018 and all it has to offer.... |
